Hiking

Japan

日本

A country with more than 15,000 peaks, there’s no lack of hiking options in Japan. Since arriving in Japan I’ve become a little obsessed with trying to hit as many of the hundred famous mountains of Japan that I can.

These peaks can be found on a list called the Nihon Hyakumeizan 日本百名山. Literally meaning One Hundred Mountains of Japan in English, it was published in 1964 and is comprised of peaks the author, Kyūya Fukada, liked best.
