Who is George?

In 2021 I quit my beloved job and moved to Europe with a bike, with no plan and no idea what I was doing. Nearly two years on, I still have no plan or ideas, but I’m happy to be able to travel the world, meet people and explore what life has to offer.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, I didn’t really do much hiking, biking or camping besides the odd school trip. After getting my Bachelors in Music, as a Musical Theatre Major, my knees decided for me that I wouldn’t be spending my life on the stage. While studying I had learnt the schools lighting system, and started working as a freelance lighting technician for different AV companies.

I took on a role in AV Events as an Operations manager, and worked a couple of different office roles before Covid struck. I was made redundant and found myself working in a warehouse packing groceries. When it looked like things would stay this way for a while, I found a job as a sales assistant in a bike store, where my passion for cycling began.

Although I could barely ride a bike, somehow I had two of them within 6 months. A lot of scratches later I had found a passion that would help me shape my life to come. Around this time I also came to find I was on the Autism spectrum, and I set about finding out as much as I could about it. I’d always had a sense that I was out of whack with the rest of the world, and Covid gave me the opportunity to rebuild.
